Search for missing walkers
POLICE and Coastguards are searching the coast path between Poppit and Newport after two walkers were reported missing on Sunday.
The two, Andrew and Mary Barbour, who are in their late 30s and from the London area, failed to arrive at the youth hostel in Newport, where they were expected on Sunday evening. They left the hostel at Poppit at 9am that morning.
Coastguard teams, police, a force helicopter and an RAF search and rescue helicopter from Kinloss have all been involved in the operation.
Dyfed-Powys Police have appealed to all hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area to check their guest lists in case the couple diverted from their walk and stayed with them overnight.
Officers said they were concerned for the couple's safety because of the bad weather in the area on Sunday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 0845 330 2000.
