Plaid Cymru's Elin Jones AM has written to the Interim Chief Executive of the Hywel Dda NHS Trust, Martin Turner, to draw his attention to the possible alternative sites for the new Cardigan Hospital Development.

Following the statement made by the Assembly Government's Minister for Health and Social Care, Edwina Hart AM, at the Senedd last month in response to the publication of the Alan Axford Review into the alignment of healthcare services in Ceredigion, various constituents have contacted Elin Jones AM regarding the progress on building a new community hospital in Cardigan.

In her letter to Martin Turner, Elin Jones AM drew his attention to these possible alternative sites should the Bathhouse development not be successful.

Commenting on her letter, Ceredigion AM Elin Jones said: "With the continued uncertainty with regards to the Bathhouse development in Cardigan, it's essential that the Hywel Dda NHS Trust now starts to urgently consider other possible sites for the town's new hospital.

"I have been contacted by numerous constituents with suggested locations in Cardigan, as have Cllr John Adams-Lewis and Cllr Catrin Miles. In my letter to Martin Turner, I drew his attention to the existence of these alternative sites so that they can be considered by the Trust.

"I also hope to meet with representatives from the NHS Trust in the near future in order to discuss this matter further".
