Junction plans not good enough

It's not good enough - that's the response of Cardigan town councillors to Assembly deputy leader Ieuan Wyn Jones' solution for Tesco junction.

Mr Jones says a feasibility study will be carried out into providing a turning facility for heavy lorries near the junction.

Only if that doesn't work will he look at providing a roundabout or gyratory system.

"I find it very disappointing," Cllr Mair "To me looking at finding a turning facility is a complete waste of time."

Fellow town councillors agreed.

"It will be a complete waste of money," said Cllr John Adams-Lewis.

"We must put pressure on. and get the message over loud and clear."

And Cllr Melfydd George said: "it's a first step but it's not good enough. We need to keep the pressure on until we win."

The town council is now to write a letter expressing their disappointment to Ieaun Wyn Jones.

A turning facility is just a total waste of time, it's like a sticking plaster on an amputation. Do the job properly this time, put in an island and make the whole bypass usable, instead of the waste of money it is now, all it does at the moment is funnel traffic and potential shoppers away from Cardigan, it's a very effective "keep out" sign.
