A DRUG dealer who made almost £9,700 from selling cannabis has been ordered to pay back just £50.

Devon Spencer, 21, was sentenced on April 20 last year for being concerned in the supply of cannabis in Ceredigion.

He was handed a nine month sentence, suspended for two years, and was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings were opened against Spencer following his sentencing.

At a hearing at Swansea Crown Court on July 20, prosecutor Jim Davis said it was agreed that Spencer had profited from his offending by the sum of £9,699.26.

However, it was found that the amount available to be seized from the defendant was just £50 – the amount of money in the defendant’s bank account.

Spencer’s hearing had been due to take place last week, but was adjourned for a week as the defendant “had insufficient money” to travel to the court in Swansea.
