A PENCADER man who was caught drink driving twice in two days has been banned from the roads for 42 months.

John Wallace, 65, of Maes Cader, was driving a Mercedes on Priory Street in Carmarthen on August 22.

When breathalysed, he recorded 97 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – almost three times the legal limit of 35.

The following day, he was breathalysed after driving along his home street, and recorded 96 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He admitted two charges of drink driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on August 24.

Wallace was sentenced to 12 weeks, with the magistrate explaining that the custody threshold had been passed due to the two repeat offences happening within a day of each other.

The sentence was suspended for a year as there was deemed to be a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.

As part of his suspended sentence, Wallace must complete 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement. He also received a 42-month driving ban.
