THESE Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire residents have had their cases heard in courts across England and Wales.

The four defendants were charged with speeding, drink-driving, and failing to identify a driver accused of speeding.

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Bath and Welshpool.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

MICHAEL VINCENT, 36, of Capel Iwan, was caught speeding in a 50mph temporary speed limit on the M4.

Vincent was driving at 57mph on the eastbound M4 between junctions 20 and 19 on August 3. A 50mph temporary speed limit was in place at the time.

He pleaded guilty, and was fined £180 at Bath Magistrates’ Court on March 11.

Vincent must also pay £90 in costs and a £72 surcharge, and was hit with three penalty points.  

DAVID SPRING, 48, of Betws Ifan, has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 after not identifying the driver of a Mercedes-Benz alleged to have committed an offence.

A Mercedes-Benz A-Class was alleged to have been driving at 57mph eastbound M4 between junctions 20 and 19 on July 9. The temporary speed limit was 50mph.

Spring was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required.

The offence was proved at Bath Magistrates’ Court on March 12 using the single justice procedure.

Spring was fined £660, and must pay a £264 surcharge and £90 in costs. He also had six points added to his licence.

DARRAN CLARK, 56, of Penparc, was caught drink-driving in Powys.

Clark was behind the wheel of a Toyota Aygo on the A489 at Newtown on January 28. When breathalysed, he recorded having 45 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

Clark pleaded guilty at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on February 13, and was banned from driving for 12 months.

He was also fined £120, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

DANIEL CARROLL, 41, of Bridge Street in Lampeter, has lost his licence after speeding on the motorway.

On May 18 Carroll was driving at 66mph in the 50mph temporary speed limit on the westbound M4 between junctions 19 and 20.

He admitted speeding and was fined £233 at Bath Magistrates’ Court on February 6. He was also ordered to pay £110 in costs and a £93 surcharge.

Carroll was handed four points on his licence, and received a six-month driving ban due to repeat offending.
